Previous name of Nakhorn nayok was “BaanNa”. It is told that in KrungSri Ayuthaya’s time , land of Nakhornnayok was overgrown forest on upland. Agriculture is hard to do, also malaria fever is abound in this area. Therefore people migrated to other cities , so it deserted.
Afterward King had known the troubles of his residents, therefore he pleased to cancel taxation of agriculture to motivate residents moving back to Nakhornnayok. As a result population of resident was increased became big community and called this city as “Mueng NaYok”.

Environment of Nakhorn nayok province is plain area in the north valley and
East is a hillock and forest which connect to “Dung Phaya Yean” forest.
Middle and south areas are plain. There are important mountain in Nakornnayok such as “Khao Yai”, “Khao Keaw”, “Khao Sha Ngok”, and “Khao Nang Rong” which those are river sources and waterfalls.

Nakornnayok has approximately 2,122 square kilometers, divided to be 4 suburbs including “Aumper Mueang”, Aumper Baan Na”, “Aumper Oung-Ka-Ruk”, and “Aumper Paak-Plee”
